a systems-engineering room used to analyze drawings, interfaces, and equipment samples.

Record where and when

Record the area, time, application and affected devices. Does everyone lose access, only a busy meeting room, or one terminal? These comparisons guide investigation but do not establish the cause. In an operating Jakarta office, begin with observations that do not change configuration.

Separate the test paths

With IT approval, compare the same application over wired and wireless access, then compare local and internet services. If only external applications are slow, investigate the uplink, service or application. If wired access works but WiFi fails in one area, review radio and access conditions. A single speed test is not enough.

When a radio survey helps

Cisco describes surveys as checks of coverage, interference and device placement. For business requirements, prepare layouts, busy areas, applications and representative clients. Do not choose AP counts from floor area alone or increase power without evaluation. The referenced Cisco document contains legacy products; its device settings are not a configuration recipe for current equipment.

Useful outputs for a decision

Ask for symptoms, test locations, test conditions, findings and proposed changes. Separate measurements from design estimates. After approval, repeat the same scenarios to compare results. Keep the ISP contract and internal-network work clearly separated.

Comparison tests before adding access points

  • Wired and WiFi internet access are both slow, while local applications work: investigate the uplink, internet service and external application.
  • A local application works over a cable but fails over WiFi in the same area: investigate radio access, client density and interference.
  • Only one device or application is affected: compare other devices and applications before changing the whole network.

These are investigation paths, not automatic diagnoses. Compare similar times, locations and loads; multiple faults can coexist.

Initial information for a project discussion with GTI

Prepare the city, facility type, shareable layout, affected areas, concurrent users, main applications, known AP or switch models, and work window. GTI can discuss a survey and the internal-network scope; internet subscriptions and IT authority are clarified during initial communication.
